Sydney-based Dark Pop singer Volte has signalled the arrival of a brand new EP, dropping a bone-chilling second single ‘Dangerous to Love.’
Volte first turned heads with his first single ‘Devil In Me’, which debuted at #11 on the Triple J Unearthed Chart. However, his latest effort is a notably more ambitious affair, with crushing, compressed production to match the unsettling storytelling.
The two singles come off the first of two upcoming EP releases, both named Bipolar. As a combined piece, the two EPs chronicle Volte’s many difficulties with mental illness, and struggles with Bipolar disorder. Bipolar (Part One) is set for release on August 27th.
“‘Dangerous to Love’ is about feeling like your mental health makes you unlovable, like no one will understand you or should have to put up with how messed up you feel,” explained Volte.
“It tells the story of trying to hide how badly you’re struggling in order to keep people in your life.
“I wrote this song in a really unhealthy headspace, one that I’ve spent the last year working really hard to come out of.”
After working with producers Joel Chapman (5 Seconds Of Summer, Amy Meredith) and Pete Holz (Peking Duk, Gang Of Youths, Pusha T), Volte will be spending much of the remainder of 2018 putting the final touches on his second Bipolar EP.
‘Dangerous to Love’is out now, and you can view the music video below.
Bipolar (Part One) will be released on August 27th 2018.
