MARK RONSON- "UPTOWN SPECIAL"

Mark Ronson has contributed as a writer, guitarist and producer to artists like Amy Winehouse and Adele. Despite this musical talent, it was surprising to see Ronson struggle to be recognised in his own right. But that was before he dropped the monster hit with Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk”.

Though it may’ve been catchy, “Uptown Funk” was only a taster. With Uptown Special, Ronson brings a stunning funky retro sound, like a cross between Michael Jackson’s Thriller and a funk-infused Tame Impala, which is no surprise considering Tame Impala band member Kevin Parker collaborated with Ronson. The result? A refreshing, gorgeous album.

While “Uptown Funk” shines, “I Can’t Lose”, “In Case of Fire”, and my personal favourite “Daffodils” also stand out.

In short, Uptown Special is slick, funky, and unbelievably sexy. Warning: may cause foot tapping!
