Georgia June unleash debut single ‘Cool’ (Music Insight)

Indie outfits are a dime-a-dozen these days, and it takes a certain charm to stand out against the crowd.

Charm is something that Sydney rock/pop outfit Georgia June have in spades, and nowhere is that more obvious than in their debut track, ‘Cool’.

Hot off a stint working at New York’s Diamond City Studios, frontwoman June wrote the track about pressure of being ‘cool’ and the anxiety of being in a social hierarchy.

It seems almost fitting that single’s music video, set within a school, fits perfectly within the naive lyrical story.

There’s almost a San Cisco vibe about them, a playful twist on the tried-and-true genre of indie rock.

While many find it hard to add a sense of freshness to the indie formula, this five piece’s chemistry gives the track a real sense of charm that feels authentic and fun to listen to.

For those looking to catch Georgia June in Sydney, they will next be performing at Wayward’s Comedy Club on October 6. Details for their upcoming show can be found here.
