You Am I, Something for Kate to headline inaugural Good Saturday Festival (Music Insight)

Does good tunes, good food and good liquor sound like your kind of Easter weekend? If it is, we’ve got the festival for you.

The inaugural Good Saturday Festival is coming to Sydney at the end of March, and is set to feature an monster lineup in its first year.

The headlining acts will be Aussie rock legends You Am I, and alternative outfit Something For Kate, who are returning after a five year absence to give fans a sneak peek of their forthcoming record.

They will also be joined by Blues and Roots ARIA Award winner C.W. Stoneking, and indie-pop rock band Augie March, in what will be their first performance since the release of their sixth record Bootikins, which dropped earlier this year.

Add to this a whole lot of up-and-coming talent like folk group All Our Exes Live In Texas, singer-songwriter Jen Cloher, Cash Savage and the Last Drinks and inner Sydney favourites Andy Golledge Band, and you’ve got a hell of a show on your hands.

The event will also feature multiple festival food options from some of Sydney’s best indie restaurants, and craft beverages from many local brewers.

On top of great music, beer and food, Good Saturday Festival will also be raising funds for two local charities. Festival patrons will be able to nominate which charity they can donate to when they purchase their ticket.

The funds will be in support of Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off The Streets program for helping disadvantaged youth, and the Aboriginal Women and Children’s Crisis Service, who provide crisis accommodation and services.

Good Saturday Festival will be kicking off on Saturday, March 31 at Railway Parade Laneway in Marrickville, and tickets are on sale now.
